Working With Inner Conflicts And Challenging Presentations

17th and 18th August 2024

Unrecognised or not adequately addressed inner conflicts are the most frequent cause of therapy failure or persistent stuckness in the unfolding life process. Focusing-oriented therapy has a unique way of attending to inner conflict while supporting and maintaining the wholeness of self. This workshop will help you learn and practice a way of working with inner conflicts that reveal and heal core negative self-beliefs and lead to inner connection and coherence.

You will increase your knowledge and skills in:

  • working with some challenging, frequently presenting problems such as “resistance”, externalising, intellectualising, evaluating, guessing, struggle with internal focus, procrastination, intense bodily responses and “lack of affect.”

  • different applications and variations of the Clearing a Space (CAS) process

  • recognising, accessing and supporting the life-forward directions

  • conceptualising and analysing the process of working with inner conflict by observing and discussing a video-recorded session

When life is challenging, painful, and stuck, finding the “positive implying” or what will move life forward and enhance it can be a mystery. We know we cannot find the positive by pushing away or avoiding the negative. In this workshop, you will learn the practice of finding the embodied sense of “there will be a way forward”, even though it may not seem there or possible.

This workshop is a part of the advanced training in Focusing and FOT, and previous basic knowledge of the Focusing process is required.
